Introducing a new species section for MHC allelic diversity in the domestic goat

A new section dedicated to the domestic goat has been added to the IPD-MHC Database.

Introducing a new species section for MHC allelic diversity in the domestic goat

With most of the major ruminant livestock species already represented on the IPD MHC Database we are now pleased to add the domestic goat, Capra hircus to the list. The development of a Caprine leukocyte antigens (CLA) section begins with assigning nomenclature to alleles at the MHC class II DRB1 locus from domesticated goats. These will be termed Cahi-DRB1 and are named in a single allelic series (Ballingall and Todd 2018). Other Loci will be added in due course and will follow the rules described in the recent report from the comparative MHC nomenclature committee (Ballingall et al. 2018, Maccari et al. 2018) in partnership with the IPD-MHC Database (Maccari et al. 2017).
