One of these families is composed [[cite:PUB00003754]] of the\nfollowing proteins:\n\n - Escherichia  coli  and  Klebsiella  pneumoniae lactose permease (gene lacY)\n   which are responsible for the transport of beta-galactosides into the cell.\n - Escherichia coli plasmid pRsd2 raffinose permease (gene rafB).\n - Escherichia coli sucrose permease (gene cscB).\n\nThese integral membrane proteins are predicted to comprise twelve membrane\nspanning domains.
