Homologous Superfamily

H-NOX domain superfamily (IPR038158)

Short name: H-NOX_domain_sf

Overlapping entries

Heme-nitric oxide/oxygen binding (H-NOX) domains function as sensors for the gaseous signaling agent nitric oxide (NO) in eukaryotes and bacteria [PMID: 24113192]. They can also function as oxigen sensors, as is the case for soluble guanylate cyclases from Caenorhabditis elegans [PMID: 26791224]. The H-NOX fold consists of seven alpha-helices and one four-stranded antiparallel beta sheet [PMID: 15326296].
