Fatty acid transport protein 1 (IPR030308)

Short name: FATP1

Family relationships

Fatty acid transport protein 1 (FATP1; also known as very long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase 5, ACSVL5) belongs to the FATP family, whose members facilitate long- and very long-chain fatty acid uptake [PMID: 23271751, PMID: 15469937]. FATP1 displays intrinsic acyl-CoA synthetase activity and mediates skeletal muscle cell fatty acid import. It localises in mitochondria in mouse skeletal muscle and regulates lipid and ketone body disposal [PMID: 24858472].
