Protein FosB (IPR029813)

Short name: FosB

Overlapping homologous superfamilies

Family relationships

Transcription factor activator protein (AP)-1, comprising Jun (c-Jun, JunB, and JunD) and Fos (c-Fos, FosB, Fra1, and Fra2) family members, plays a central role in regulating gene transcription in various biological processes [PMID: 12424143]. Fos protein family members form stable heterodimers with Jun proteins and thereby enhance their DNA-binding activity [PMID: 23904356].

This entry reprsents FosB [PMID: 2498083]. FosB-null mice display impaired adult hippocampal neurogenesis and spontaneous epilepsy with depressive behavior [PMID: 23303048].
