Family relationships

Spindlin-4 is a member of the Spin/Ssty family of proteins, which seem to occur in multiple copies in vertebrate genomes. Though its exact function is not known, members of this family are thought to be important in the transition from sperm cells and oocytes to the early embryo, as well as in mitosis [PMID: 11806826].
