Description

Methylation is an important reaction in the biotransformation of arsenic. Arsenite methyltransferase catalyses the transfer of a methyl group from AdoMet to trivalent arsenicals producing methylated and dimethylated arsenicals [PMID: 11790780]. As well as arsenite methyltransferase, this family includes 8-demethylnovobiocic acid C(8)-methyltransferase, and a variety of uncharacterised methyltransferases.
