Family relationships

Description

This entry represents a group of dNTP triphosphohydrolases, which is an class of enzymes capable of hydrolyzing deoxynucleoside 5'-triphosphates (dNTPs) into the corresponding deoxynucleosides and tripolyphosphate (PPPi) [PMID: 25694425]. They can be classified into three subgroups [PMID: 19438719]:

  • Type 1: represented by E. coli dGTPase and Q9I4L1, which preferentially hydrolyzes dGTP without an activator [PMID: 25694425].
  • Type 2: represented by Q5SL81, which hydrolyzes multiple kinds of dNTP upon activation by binding of an activator [PMID: 15496593].
  • Type 3: represented by Q9HZG5, which hydrolyzes multiple kinds of dNTP without an activator [PMID: 19438719].
