It is essential for viral replication and plays an important role during transcription of early mRNAs, presumably by preventing R-loop formation behind the elongating RNA polymerase. It acts as NTP-dependent helicase that catalyzes unidirectional unwinding of 3'tailed duplex RNAs. It might also play a role in the export of newly synthesized mRNA chains out of the core into the cytoplasm and is required for propagation of viral particles [[cite:PUB00053892]].</p>","llm":false,"checked":false,"updated":false}],"wikipedia":null,"literature":{"PUB00053892":{"PMID":8970979,"ISBN":null,"volume":"70","issue":"12","year":1996,"title":"Vaccinia virions lacking the RNA helicase nucleoside triphosphate phosphohydrolase II are defective in early transcription.","URL":null,"raw_pages":"8549-57","medline_journal":"J Virol","ISO_journal":"J.
