FAM171A1 is a type 1 transmembrane glycoprotein also known as astroprincin (APCN) due to abundant expression in astrocytes. APCN is also expressed in placental trophoblasts, skeletal and heart muscle, kidney and pancreas [[cite:PUB00100164]].
