The function is not known. However, family members such as the import inner membrane translocase sub-unit Tim29 (C19orf52) found in human, is shown to be required for the stability of the TIM22 complex. TIM22 complex imports and inserts multi-pass trans-membrane proteins into the mitochondrial inner membrane by formation of a twin-pore translocase with components in the outer and inner membranes. TIM29 is integrated into the inner member with the C terminus exposed to the inter-membrane space and able to contact the translocase of the outer membrane. It is required for complex stability and for the addition of the TIMM22 protein to the complex [[cite:PUB00083238]].</p>","llm":false,"checked":false,"updated":false}],"wikipedia":null,"literature":{"PUB00083238":{"PMID":27554484,"ISBN":null,"volume":"5","issue":null,"year":2016,"title":"Tim29 is a novel subunit of the human TIM22 translocase and is involved in complex assembly and stability.","URL":null,"raw_pages":null,"medline_journal":"Elife","ISO_journal":"Elife","authors":["Kang Y","Baker MJ","Liem M","Louber J","McKenzie M","Atukorala I","Ang CS","Keerthikumar S","Mathivanan S","Stojanovski D."],"DOI_URL":"http://dx.doi.org/10.7554/eLife.17463"}},"set_info":null,"overlaps_with":null,"counters":{"subfamilies":0,"domain_architectures":25,"interactions":0,"matches":1147,"pathways":0,"proteins":1127,"proteomes":976,"sets":0,"structural_models":{"alphafold":986},"structures":1,"taxa":3362},"entry_annotations":{"hmm":0,"logo":0,"alignment:seed":26,"alignment:full":860},"cross_references":{},"is_llm":false,"is_reviewed_llm":false,"is_updated_llm":false,"representative_structure":null}}
