In the example species C. crescentus, two bactofilins assemble into a membrane-associated laminar structure that shows cell-cycle-dependent polar localisation and acts as a platform for the recruitment of a cell wall biosynthetic enzyme involved in polar morphogenesis. Bactofilins display distinct subcellular distributions and dynamics in different bacterial species, suggesting that they are versatile structural elements that have adopted a range of different cellular functions.</p>","llm":false,"checked":false,"updated":false}],"wikipedia":null,"literature":{"PUB00086465":{"PMID":19959992,"ISBN":null,"volume":"29","issue":"2","year":2010,"title":"Bactofilins, a ubiquitous class of cytoskeletal proteins mediating polar localization of a cell wall synthase in Caulobacter crescentus.","URL":null,"raw_pages":"327-39","medline_journal":"EMBO J","ISO_journal":"EMBO J.","authors":["Kuhn J","Briegel A","Morschel E","Kahnt J","Leser K","Wick S","Jensen GJ","Thanbichler M."],"DOI_URL":"https://doi.org/10.1038/emboj.2009.358"}},"set_info":{"accession":"CL0268","name":"Pec_lyase-like"},"overlaps_with":null,"counters":{"subfamilies":0,"domain_architectures":35,"interactions":0,"matches":9649,"pathways":0,"proteins":9607,"proteomes":6945,"sets":1,"structural_models":{"alphafold":6555},"structures":3,"taxa":10792},"entry_annotations":{"hmm":0,"logo":0,"alignment:seed":334,"alignment:full":5490},"cross_references":{},"is_llm":false,"is_reviewed_llm":false,"is_updated_llm":false,"representative_structure":null}}
