This domain is found in a wide range of acyltransferase enzymes, including, mainly, bacterial proteins which catalyse the transfer of acyl groups, other than amino-acyl, from one compound to another, such as Glucans biosynthesis protein C (OPGC) or protein OatA from Listeria monocytogenes serovar 1/2a and Staphylococcus aureus, an integral membrane protein which is responsible for O-acetylation at the C6-hydroxyl group of N-acetylmuramyl residues, forming the corresponding N,6-O-diacetylmuramic acid of the peptidoglycan, a modification that determines lysozyme resistance [[cite:PUB00097284],[cite:PUB00097283]]. This domain is also present in eukaryotic proteins, namely O-acyltransferase like protein (OACYL) from mouse and RHY1 (Regulator of hypoxia-inducible factor 1) [[cite:PUB00097285]] and NRF6 (Nose resistant to fluoxetine protein 6) from Caenorhabditis elegans [[cite:PUB00097286]].
","llm":false,"checked":false,"updated":false}],"wikipedia":null,"literature":{"PUB00097286":{"PMID":16118202,"ISBN":null,"volume":"172","issue":"2","year":2006,"title":"Fluoxetine-resistance genes in Caenorhabditis elegans function in the intestine and may act in drug transport.","URL":null,"raw_pages":"885-92","medline_journal":"Genetics","ISO_journal":"Genetics","authors":["Choy RK","Kemner JM","Thomas JH."],"DOI_URL":null},"PUB00097285":{"PMID":16980385,"ISBN":null,"volume":"174","issue":"3","year":2006,"title":"The Caenorhabditis elegans rhy-1 gene inhibits HIF-1 hypoxia-inducible factor activity in a negative feedback loop that does not include vhl-1.","URL":null,"raw_pages":"1205-14","medline_journal":"Genetics","ISO_journal":"Genetics","authors":["Shen C","Shao Z","Powell-Coffman JA."],"DOI_URL":null},"PUB00097284":{"PMID":21844299,"ISBN":null,"volume":"204","issue":"5","year":2011,"title":"OatA, a peptidoglycan O-acetyltransferase involved in Listeria monocytogenes immune escape, is critical for virulence.","URL":null,"raw_pages":"731-40","medline_journal":"J Infect Dis","ISO_journal":"J Infect Dis","authors":["Aubry C","Goulard C","Nahori MA","Cayet N","Decalf J","Sachse M","Boneca IG","Cossart P","Dussurget O."],"DOI_URL":null},"PUB00097283":{"PMID":32350117,"ISBN":null,"volume":"295","issue":"24","year":2020,"title":"Structural basis for the O-acetyltransferase function of the extracytoplasmic domain of OatA from Staphylococcus aureus.","URL":null,"raw_pages":"8204-8213","medline_journal":"J Biol Chem","ISO_journal":"J Biol Chem","authors":["Jones CS","Sychantha D","Howell PL","Clarke AJ."],"DOI_URL":null}},"set_info":{"accession":"CL0316","name":"Acyl_transf_3"},"overlaps_with":null,"counters":{"subfamilies":0,"domain_architectures":429,"interactions":0,"matches":80016,"pathways":0,"proteins":79491,"proteomes":17243,"sets":1,"structural_models":{"alphafold":51499},"structures":0,"taxa":26410},"entry_annotations":{"hmm":0,"logo":0,"alignment:seed":98,"alignment:full":41759},"cross_references":{},"is_llm":false,"is_reviewed_llm":false,"is_updated_llm":false,"representative_structure":null}}
