RBM28 is a specific nucleolar component of the spliceosomal small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs), possibly coordinating their transition through the nucleolus. It specifically associates with U1, U2, U4, U5, and U6 small nuclear RNAs (snRNAs), and may play a role in the maturation of both small nuclear and ribosomal RNAs. RBM28 has four RNA recognition motifs (RRMs), also termed RBDs (RNA binding domains) or RNPs (ribonucleoprotein domains), and an extremely acidic region between RRM2 and RRM3. The family also includes nucleolar protein 4 (Nop4p or Nop77p) encoded by YPL043W from Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It is an essential nucleolar protein involved in processing and maturation of 27S pre-rRNA and biogenesis of 60S ribosomal subunits. Nop4p also contains four RRMs. [[cite:PUB00129025], [cite:PUB00129026], [cite:PUB00129027], [cite:PUB00084428], [cite:PUB00129028], [cite:PUB00079469], [cite:PUB00079470]]</p>","llm":false,"checked":false,"updated":false}],"wikipedia":null,"literature":{"PUB00129028":{"PMID":9312154,"ISBN":null,"volume":"272","issue":"40","year":1997,"title":"The yeast nucleolar protein Nop4p contains four RNA recognition motifs necessary for ribosome biogenesis.","URL":null,"raw_pages":"25345-52","medline_journal":"J Biol Chem","ISO_journal":"J Biol Chem","authors":["Sun C","Woolford JL Jr."],"DOI_URL":null},"PUB00079470":{"PMID":22278943,"ISBN":null,"volume":"3","issue":"2","year":2012,"title":"Structural insight into RNA recognition motifs: versatile molecular Lego building blocks for biological systems.","URL":null,"raw_pages":"229-46","medline_journal":"Wiley Interdiscip Rev RNA","ISO_journal":"Wiley Interdiscip Rev RNA","authors":["Muto Y","Yokoyama S."],"DOI_URL":"http://dx.doi.org/10.1002/wrna.1107"},"PUB00079469":{"PMID":22516180,"ISBN":null,"volume":"22","issue":"3","year":2012,"title":"Dynamics in multi-domain protein recognition of RNA.","URL":null,"raw_pages":"287-96","medline_journal":"Curr Opin Struct Biol","ISO_journal":"Curr.
