IntEnz Enzyme Nomenclature

Accepted name:
2-methyleneglutarate mutase
Other name:
α-methyleneglutarate mutase
Systematic name:
2-methyleneglutarate carboxy-methylenemethylmutase

Requires a cobamide coenzyme. Forms part of the nicotinate-fermentation catabolism pathway in Eubacterium barkeri. Other enzymes involved in this pathway are EC (nicotinate dehydrogenase), EC (6-hydroxynicotinate reductase), EC (enamidase), EC (2-hydroxymethylglutarate dehydrogenase), EC (methylitaconate Δ-isomerase), EC (dimethylmaleate hydratase) and EC (2,3-dimethylmalate lyase).
