ENZYME: 2.3.2.36

ID 2.3.2.36
DE RING-type E3 ubiquitin transferase (cysteine targeting).
AN RING E3 ligase.
CA [E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme]-S-ubiquitinyl-L-cysteine + [acceptor
CA protein]-L-cysteine = [E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme]-L-cysteine +
CA [acceptor protein]-S-ubiquitinyl-L-cysteine.
CC -!- This relatively rare subpopulation of RING-type E3 ubiquitin
CC transferases (cf. EC 2.3.2.27), found in mammals and herpes viruses,
CC can transfer ubiquitin to a cysteine residue in target proteins.
CC -!- Additional ubiquitin molecules are polymerized on top of the initial
CC ubiquitin molecule by formation of an isopeptide linkage with
CC lysine(48) in the pre-attached ubiquitin (2).
