ENZYME: 2.5.1.104

ID 2.5.1.104
DE N(1)-aminopropylagmatine synthase.
AN ACAPT.
AN Agmatine aminopropyltransferase.
AN Agmatine/cadaverine aminopropyl transferase.
AN Triamine/agmatine aminopropyltransferase.
CA S-adenosylmethioninamine + agmatine = S-methyl-5'-thioadenosine + N(1)-
CA (3-aminopropyl)agmatine.
CC -!- The enzyme is involved in the biosynthesis of spermidine from
CC agmatine in some archaea and bacteria.
CC -!- The enzyme from the Gram-negative bacterium Thermus thermophilus
CC accepts agmatine, spermidine and norspermidine with similar catalytic
CC efficiency.
CC -!- The enzymes from the archaea Pyrococcus furiosus and Thermococcus
CC kodakarensis prefer agmatine, but can utilize cadaverine, putrescine
CC and propane-1,3-diamine with much lower catalytic efficiency.
CC -!- Cf. EC 2.5.1.16 and EC 2.5.1.23.
