IntEnz Enzyme Nomenclature
EC 4.2.3.100

Names

Accepted name:
bicyclogermacrene synthase
Other name:
Ov-TPS4
Systematic name:
(2E,6E)-farnesyl-diphosphate diphosphate-lyase (bicyclogermacrene-forming)

Reaction

Cofactor

Comments:

The enzyme from oregano (Origanum vulgare) gives mainly bicyclogermacrene with Mn2+ as a cofactor. With Mg2+ a more complex mixture is produced.
