IntEnz Enzyme Nomenclature
EC 3.4.24.81

Names

Accepted name:
ADAM10 endopeptidase
Other names:
Kuzbanian protein
myelin-associated disintegrin metalloproteinase
Systematic name:
-

Reaction

Cofactor

Comments:

In peptidase family M12. Partially responsible for the "α-secretase" activity in brain that degrades the potentially harmful β-amyloid peptide. Work with ADAM10-deficient mice supports a role in Notch signalling.
