EC 188.8.131.52 - IgA-specific metalloendopeptidase
IntEnz Enzyme Nomenclature
immunoglobulin A1 proteinase
- Cleavage of Pro┼Thr bond in the hinge region of the heavy chain of human IgA.
A 190 kDa enzyme found in several pathogenic species of Streptococcus such as sanguis and pneumoniae. Type example of peptidase family M26. There is also an IgA-specific prolyl endopeptidase of serine-type (see EC 184.108.40.206, IgA-specific serine endopeptidase).
