EC 2.4.1.351

Names

Accepted name:
rhamnogalacturonan I rhamnosyltransferase
Other names:
RRT
RG I rhamnosyltransferase
Systematic name:
UDP-β-L-rhamnose:rhamnogalacturonan I 4-rhamnosyltransferase (configuration-inverting)

Reaction

Comments:

The enzyme, characterized from Vigna angularis (azuki beans), participates in the biosynthesis of rhamnogalacturonan type I. It does not require any metal ions, and prefers substrates with a degree of polymerization larger than 7.
