IntEnz Enzyme Nomenclature
EC 2.3.1.183

Names

Accepted name:
phosphinothricin acetyltransferase
Other names:
PAT
PPT acetyltransferase
Pt-N-acetyltransferase
PPT N-acetyltransferase
Systematic name:
acetyl-CoA:phosphinothricin N-acetyltransferase

Reaction

Comments:

The substrate phosphinothricin is used as a nonselective herbicide and is a potent inhibitor of EC 6.3.1.2, glutamate—ammonia ligase, a key enzyme of nitrogen metabolism in plants [2].
