Comments:

Involved in isoquinoline alkaloid metabolism in plants. The enzyme has also been shown to catalyse the methylation of (RS)-laudanosoline, (S)-3'-hydroxycoclaurine and (RS)-7-O-methylnorlaudanosoline.
