EC - Coproporphyrinogen III oxidase (coproporphyrin-forming)

  IntEnz view ENZYME view

IntEnz Enzyme Nomenclature

Accepted name:
coproporphyrinogen III oxidase (coproporphyrin-forming)
Other name:
hemY (gene name)
Systematic name:
coproporphyrinogen-III:oxygen oxidoreductase (coproporphyrin-forming)

Contains FAD. The enzyme, present in Gram-positive bacteria, participates in heme biosynthesis. It can also catalyse the reaction of EC, protoporphyrinogen oxidase, at a lower level.
