IntEnz Enzyme Nomenclature
EC 1.18.1.6

Names

Accepted name:
adrenodoxin-NADP+ reductase
Other names:
adrenodoxin reductase
nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate-adrenodoxin reductase
AdR
NADPH:adrenal ferredoxin oxidoreductase
NADPH-adrenodoxin reductase
Systematic name:
reduced adrenodoxin:NADP+ oxidoreductase

Reaction

Cofactor

Comments:

A flavoprotein (FAD). The enzyme, which transfers electrons from NADPH to adrenodoxin molecules, is the first component of the mitochondrial cytochrome P450 electron transfer systems, and is involved in the biosynthesis of all steroid hormones.
