After submission
Once your submission is complete, it shows as SUBMITTED and is listed on the My Submissions page. Each GWAS is given an accession number beginning with GCST.
Use the GCST accession when citing a study in a manuscript. Do not use the GCP submission ID, because it is not searchable on the GWAS Catalog website. To find your accessions, open your submission page or follow the direct link in the confirmation email, then click Download Accessions.
When will the data be released?
If you submitted after journal publication, a curator will review your submission and make the summary statistics publicly available on the GWAS Catalog website as soon as possible. We will notify you when this happens.
For unpublished data or data linked to a preprint, your summary statistics will be available on the GWAS FTP server within 48 hours, or after your embargo period ends if you requested one. Studies are grouped by accession number in sets of 1,000. For example, GCST90011111 is available in the GCST90011001-GCST90012000 directory.
Our data release runs fortnightly, so it may take a few days for your study to appear on the GWAS Catalog website. Non-embargoed studies are added to the summary-statistics download area. You can search for a study’s accession number on the GWAS homepage to find its landing page and metadata. Additional metadata is available in the file downloads.
If more than two weeks have passed and you have concerns, contact gwas-subs@ebi.ac.uk.
When a pre-publication study is published
When your pre-publication study is published, we update the metadata to include the PubMed citation, top associations and ontology mappings. We check the literature weekly for matches to pre-published studies, so you do not need to take further action. Informing us when your paper is published, together with the PubMed ID, can help speed up the process.
