REST API

The GWAS Catalog REST API provides programmatic access to curated studies, associations, traits, variants and related metadata. Use it to query GWAS Catalog data from scripts, applications and analysis pipelines.

REST API v2 is the only currently supported version of the GWAS Catalog API. V1 was retired in August 2026.

Summary statistics​

There is currently no API for accessing GWAS Catalog summary statistics. The previously available API was frozen in 2021 and retired in 2026.

Where available, summary statistics can be accessed from individual GWAS Catalog study pages or downloaded from the summary statistics tables.
