The European Nucleotide Archive is a part of a robust pan-European bioinformatics infrastructure supporting integrated view of marine microbial biodiversity. While molecular data (reads and sequence assemblies) and core sample metadata are hosted directly at the ENA, rich contextual information around the sequenced samples is available through integration with the network of Euorpean oceanographic data repositories.
This page navigates to marine projects, where the ENA is the partner holding the molecular component of marine biodiversity.
Molecular data generated by the Micro B3 project principle sampling campaign, the Ocean Sampling Day (OSD), is available from the umbrella project accession number PRJEB5129. The component project PRJEB8682 contains all available OSD 2014 metagenomic shotgun sequencing data as well as 16S rRNA and 18S rRNA amplicon sequencing data. Information on the minimal reporting checklist of Micro B3/OSD sample contextual data available at the European Nucleotide Archive can be found here.
The Tara Oceans Expedition molecular data available at the EMBL-EBI can be accessed from the umbrella project accession number PRJEB402. Individual component projects hold shotgun or amplicon sequencing data from samples of microscopic marine plankton collected during the Expedition. The Tara Oceans Ocean Microbiome project PRJEB7988 provides access to gene predictions and assemblies of the Ocean Microbial Reference Gene Catalogue. Information on the minimal reporting checklist of Tara Oceans sample contextual data available at the European Nucleotide Archive can be found here.
