General Comment
2011-02-24 A short-acting barbiturate anaesthetic, thiopental sodium is given intravenously for the induction of anaesthesia prior to the use of other general anesthetic agents. It may also be used as the sole anaesthetic for brief (15 minute) procedures. It has poor muscle relaxant and poor analgesic properties.
