2011-07-25 Nitarsone is used as a feed additive for the control (by prevention) of histomoniasis, a disease caused by a protozoan parasite, Histomonas meleagridis, that infects the caecum, and subsequently the liver, of turkeys (in which most infections are fatal) and chickens.
