Experiment Description	Identification of TLR4 as one of the most abundant RNA species in pericytes with respect to MSC, and corroboration of TLR4 expression on the cell surface, led us to obtain a comprehensive overview of the expression program of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulated pericytes. Microarray analyisis demonstrated the significant upregulation of 76 annotated genes including transcripts for adhesion molecules, inflammation mediators, pro-angiogenic factors, transcription factors and anti-apoptotic proteins. Cells were cultured in 24-w plates in complete medium for 24h before stimulation with 1 microgram/ml LPS for 4h. Samples are biological triplicates.

Protocol Description	The CEL files generated from the scanning were converted to gene expression signals using RMA Algorithm in Affymetrix® Expression Console ID_REF =  VALUE = RMA signal estimates from Affymetrix Expression Console	cDNA was labeled with Affymetrix WT terminal Labeling kit	Samples were hybridized using Affymetrix hybridization kit materials in a GeneChip® Hybridization Oven 640	Cells were incubated 24h in 24w-plates, prior to stimulation with Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) from Escherichia coli 026:B6 (Sigma-Aldrich, Manchester, UK) at a concentration of 1 microgram/ml for 4h.	HBVP were cultured in Pericyte Medium with 2% FBS, pericyte grorth supplement and penicillin/streptomycin (all from ScienceCell, Carlsbad, CA, USA).	Total RNA was extracted using a Qiagen RNeasy Micro kit according to manufacturer´s instructions.	Affymetrix GeneChip® 3000 scanner
