In this report, we have demonstrated several fundamental issues in the field. 1) A significant prevention of ovariectomy (OVX) -induced bone loss from adult rats can occur with only 14 days consumption of a blueberry-containing diet immediately prior to puberty. 2) The molecular mechanisms underlying these effects involve increased myosin production and preserved a shuttle for transcription factors such as Runx2 from cytoplasm to nucleolus which stimulates osteoblast differentiation and reduces mesenchymal stromal cell senescence. 3) The effects of blueberry diet on preserving fidelity of osteoblast differentiation also overcome reduced osteoblast differentiation and activity due to OVX-induced degradation of collagen matrix. Bone quality was compared among casein control diet sham operated, casein diet ovariectomized, long term BB diet ovariectomized, and short term BB diet ovariectomized female rats Date of Experiment Term Source Name EFO Term Source Version Term Source File http://www.ebi.ac.uk/efo/efo.owl Person Last Name Shankar Zhang Lazarenko Blackburn Shankar Badger Ronis Chen Person First Name Kartik Jian Oxana Michael Kartik Thomas Martin Jin-Ran Person Mid Initials P L M J Person Email shankarkartik@uams.edu Person Affiliation University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences/Arkansas Childrens Nutrition Center Person Phone 501 364 2847 Person Fax 501 364 3161 Person Address Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences/Arkansas Childrens Nutrition Center, 1120 Marshall Street, Slot 512-20B, Little rock, AR, USA Person Roles submitter Person Roles Term Source REF Person Roles Term Accession Number Normalization Type Normalization Term Accession Number Normalization Term Source REF Replicate Type Replicate Term Accession Number Replicate Term Source REF Experimental Design Experimental Design Term Accession Number Experimental Design Term Source REF Quality Control Type Quality Control Term Accession Number Quality Control Term Source REF Protocol Name P-GSE30081-1 P-GSE30081-6 P-GSE30081-3 P-GSE30081-8 P-GSE30081-7 P-GSE30081-2 P-GSE30081-4 P-GSE30081-5 Protocol Description ID_REF =
