ITS Operations

Managing the EMBL-EBI File Replication archive (FIRE), Transfer Services, account management, and the Job Dispatcher framework.

The Operations team develops, adapts and operates software to meet the internal needs of IT & Technical Services (ITS) and to support engagement with external projects such as the Human Cell Atlas through the software and services available within ITS.

Edit

  • Integrating, deploying and contributing to open-source software that provides added value to EMBL-EBI and which may potentially be of benefit to other organisations.
  • Developing software to meet the needs of ITS and other parts of EMBL-EBI.
  • Developing and operating reliable and resilient large-scale and long-term key service infrastructure for other EMBL-EBI services, such as multi-petabyte geo-dispersed file archiving, centralised file transfer services, and the user account management service.
  • Participating in internal and external projects by either leading EMBL-EBI’s interactions or working collaboratively with other teams within EMBL-EBI.

The team works in collaboration with other teams within ITS and across EMBL-EBI, and also with external collaborators as part of externally funded projects, such as ELIXIR implementation studies, BioExcel, and EOSC-Life.
