Human health and disease

EMBL-EBI provides the biodata resources, research and training that make precision medicine possible.

How does EMBL-EBI support healthcare and disease research?

EMBL-EBI makes precision medicine possible by providing reference data and analysis tools that support healthcare research and patient diagnosis. Precision medicine enables faster, personalised diagnoses, connecting patients to the right treatments and helping health systems deliver care more efficiently.

As genomics and multiomics become a routine part of healthcare, reference datasets such as the human genome – accessible in EMBL-EBI’s Ensembl – are critical. These data are a benchmark for comparing patient data, enabling clinics worldwide to interpret genetic differences, deliver diagnoses and select interventions.

Quote

The AMR Portal from EMBL-EBI provides an unprecedented, openly curated collection of antimicrobial resistance phenotype data. It makes it easier for researchers to understand the relationship between genotype and antimicrobial resistance, and will support the global scientific effort to combat AMR.
