Taxon support for sequence, WGS and assembly in ENA Browser Tools

Taxon support for sequence, WGS and assembly in ENA Browser Tools

30 Jun 2017 - 17:06

We are happy to announce that you can now download sequence, WGS and assembly data by tax ID using ENA Browser Tools. This functionality is currently disabled for read and analysis data as we wish to add a data volume sanity check first so that you are warned about the volume of data you are about to download.

To download data by taxon, use the enaGroupGet command, supplying the NCBI tax ID in the same way as you would provide a study or sample accession. This also supports taxonomy subtree retrieval (all subordinate taxa in addition to the tax ID requested), using the --subtree flag.

For example, to download all Campylobacter jejuni assemblies:

enaGroupGet -g assembly -f fasta 197
