CC Three potential reading frames are found in PARNA5 at positions CC 41-140, 48-140 and 144 to the end of the molecule. Smaller CC potential reading frames are located at positions 68-136 and CC 76-147. The translational capability of PARNA5 was not CC investigated. PARNA5 differs from other viroids in that it has a CC 5' cap and a 3' hydroxyl group and gives no hint of circular CC precursors or products. The presence within PARNA5 of conserved CC intron sequences, at positions 78-82, 86-92, 194-200, 217-221, CC 224-228 and 308-312, essential to proper RNA processing suggests a CC possible origin from plant introns and/or involvement of such CC sequences in the processing of PARNA5 multimers to monomers at some CC stage of replication.
