My research is centered around understanding the evolutionary relationships between protein sequences, structures and their functions through the development of computational tools and analytical methods.

I currently pursue these activities in the context of evolution of protein function (especially novel enzyme function) and genome functional annotation. Recently I have returned to my earlier interest in parasitology and immunology to apply my research to understanding the evolutionary bases of allerginicity. In addition I have begun to apply the computational tools and methods I have developed to a variety of problems in infectious disease especially relating to drug development and novel therapeutics.
