EMBL-EBI runs public events as part of its Science and Society programme and the Cambridge Science Festival. In recent years, the Science and Society events have discussed the science of sporting success (2012) and how science helps us to understand addiction (2013).
The next Science and Society event - What is life? - is taking place at the Cambridge Union Society on 4 June 2014. For more information, see the Science and Society programme.
Every year staff from the EBI and Sanger enjoy meeting visitors of all ages at the Cambridge Science Festival. In 2014 we are hosting an evening talk by Dr Sarah Teichman on 'finding patterns in genes and proteins' from 7-8.30pm on Wednesday 12 March at the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus. Then on 15 and 16 March we are running hands-on activities for all ages in the Corn Exchange on 'discovering the double helix'. For full details, see the Science Festival programme.
