What is the ProteomeXchange consortium?

The ProteomeXchange consortium is a collaboration among the main providers of repositories for MS-based proteomics data.

It has been set up to provide a central point of submission to proteomics repositories, as well as a common set of identifiers so that users of these databases can readily distinguish different versions of a dataset and see which datasets are held in each repository.

Proteomics repositories are quite heterogeneous and have different areas of focus, so the fundamental goal of ProteomeXchange is to simplify the submission and distribution of proteomics data.
