When to use ArrayExpress: some examples

You can use ArrayExpress to:

  • Find functional genomics experiments that might be relevant to your research;

  • Download data and re-analyse it. Often data deposited in public repositories can be used to answer different biological questions from the one asked in the original experiments. Examples of large meta-analysis projects carried out on public data have already been published (10);

  • Submit microarray or HTS data that you want to publish. Major journals will require data to be submitted to a public repository like ArrayExpress as part of the peer-review process.

In the next section we provide guided examples of how ArrayExpress can be used so that you can revise what you have learned from this course.
