Why come to the EMBL-EBI?

EMBL-EBI is located on the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus, Hinxton, near Cambridge. With the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute as our nearest neighbour we are arguably situated within the world’s largest concentration of genomics and bioinformatics expertise.

Features of the EMBL-EBI hands-on training courses

Hands-on training at the EBI takes place in our state-of-the-art training facilities. Expert trainers lead you though the course programme which is designed to balance instruction with practical exercises. Lunch and coffee breaks are factored in to the course programme, allowing you pose questions to the trainers, to network with the other course delegates or simply to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Features of the EMBL-EBI residential courses

For our residential courses, you will stay on-site in the Residential Court, part of the Wellcome Trust Conference Centre on the beautiful 55 acre campus. All rooms are comfortably furnished, with digital televisions, complimentary wireless LAN connections, telephones and en suite facilities.

The three-course evening meals in the restaurant at the Grade II listed Hinxton Hall provide another opportunity to interact with course participants and trainers. Head Chef, Josh Fox, recently won the UK final of the IACC Copper Skillet Challenge 2009. After dinner, course delegates have the option of finishing off the day in the cosy bar, exploring the grounds or strolling the short distance through campus to the local village pub in Hinxton.

A social highlight of our residential courses is the outing to Cambridge and dinner in one of the historical colleges of the University of Cambridge.
