About this Course


This course consists of a mix of lectures and practical experience in accessing proteomics resources. An overview of each of the databases will introduce participants to the types of data, the way the data are stored and the connection between databases. Subsequently database-specific lectures will address the programmatic accessibility of the data and data integration between resources. This new knowledge will then be applied in hands-on tutorials.

Topics centre around programmatically accessing several resources, including:
  • Introduction to Proteomics Databases at the EBI
  • Relationships among Proteomic Databases at the EBI
  • Refreshing Web Services in Java
  • Programmatic access of the following resources:
  • Integrating data across: BioMart and EnCORE (Enfin)

Course requirements


This course is especially intended for bioinformaticians with literacy in java and some prior experience (or basic understanding) with Web Services.

The training is free, however we need to charge participants an administration fee of £25 per day. Administration fee for this course is £75.
