Title: Understanding Protein StructuresDate: 6-7 May 2008 Venue: Hinxton, Cambridge, UK Organisers: Jennifer McDowall and Vicky Schneider Registration Deadline: 18th April 2008 About this CourseThis course will provide instruction and hands-on training in protein structures using several public databases and bioinformatics tools freely available on the internet.Topics include: searching structures in the PDB and their schematic display in PDBSum; exploring the structural classification of proteins in the CATH and SCOP databases; examining the 3-D orientation of catalytic residues using Catalytic Site Atlas; linking functional annotation to structures using ProFunc and InterPro; and investigating domain-domain interactions using iPFAM. Course requirementsA basic understanding of protein structures and a familiarity with the use of biological databases would be an advantage.The training is free, however we need to charge participants an administration fee of £25 per day.
