Wellcome Trust Scientific Conference: Functional Genomics and Systems Biology 2013
The complete genome sequences of hundreds of organisms have provided the list of components required to make an organism viable. High-throughput functional genomic technologies continue to generate vast amounts of information describing the functions and interactions of these components within the cell. Through the combined use of computational and experimental techniques, we are achieving comprehensive mappings of cellular and molecular networks. However, there are major challenges to interpret these data in a biological meaningful fashion: how should we integrate these disparate data sources, and utilise them to improve our understanding of complex biological systems and diseases?
The meeting will take place at the Wellcome Trust Conference Centre, in the convivial setting of the Hinxton Genome Campus where some of the world's leading scientists can discuss advances in their field and learn about recent progress in others. Additional speakers will be selected to speak from submitted abstracts
Scientific Sessions
This conference will provide a forum for discussions about post-genomic research in humans and other organisms. Rather than focusing on a particular subject, we will cover a diverse selection of areas in post-genomic science. Topics will include:
- High throughput technologies and their applications
- Functional genomics of disease and model organisms
- Single cell/molecule level analysis
- Genome regulation
- Human genetic variation and disease
- Visualisation and modelling of biological networks and pathways
A copy of the draft programme will be available shortly.
The conference will open with registration from 08:00 on the 21 November 2013 with talks starting at 11:00. The conference will close at approx. 14:00 on 23 November 2013.

On-site
Important – limited on-site accommodation. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
As we have limited bedrooms on-site, bedrooms on the Hinxton campus will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. Early registration is recommended. To view more information on the Wellcome Trust Conference Centre accommodation, please click here
Off-site
Once we have reached capacity on campus, accommodation will be provided off site at the Holiday Inn Express, Whittlesford. Complimentary shuttle services will be provided to the Conference Centre in the morning and back in the evening. The newly opened Holiday Inn, Whittlesford, is 3 miles from the Conference Centre. Abstract Submission
The deadline for abstracts is 1 October 2013
Please ensure that you follow the abstract guidelines and upload your abstract during registration.
If you are not ready to up-load your abstract at the time of registration, please e-mail your abstract document to jemma.beard@wtgc.org no later than 1 October 2013.
Please Note: abstracts will not be accepted if the presenting author is not registered.
After the abstract deadline the scientific committee will assess your abstract and you will be notified whether you have been selected for a short talk or poster presentation.
Posters
Poster boards onsite will accommodate 118 cm high by 84 cm wide (A0- portrait) of printed material. Accepted abstracts will appear in the conference programme book and poster boards will be allocated at the conference.
