The enzyme, located in the inner mitochondrial membrane, catalyzes ubiquinone reduction by flavoprotein-ubiquinone oxidoreductase linking oxidation of fatty acids and some amino acids to the mitochondrial respiratory chain. It binds FAD and an iron-sulfur cluster PMID17050691.
