EBI Pre-doctoral Fellows

We are PhD students in the research-oriented groups at the European Bioinformatics Institute. The name "predoc" is shorthand for "pre-doctoral fellow", which refers to our status in the European Molecular Biology Laboratory. We're students at the University of Cambridge though, since the EBI is associated with the university.

About us

The number of The EBI predocs have been growing significantly in recent years, as you can see by the dates on our current students and alumni page. We're a bit of a mixed bunch, so the page will also tell you a bit about our geographical and educational background. We have an active calendar of events, including informal student seminars, visiting speakers, courses, workshops, and of course, social events. For more information about what sort of projects we're working on, see the research page.

Applicants and new students

If you are interested in doing a PhD at the EBI, check out our links page for information about applying to the program. Our frequently asked questions page may be useful to you, and you can also e-mail the current predoc representatives if there is something that is unclear or not covered. If we can't help you ourselves, we will attempt to direct you to the appropriate person at EBI or EMBL.

Visiting students

Visitors are encouraged to subscribe to the predoc mailing list for seminar announcements, Thursday lunch reminders, and social activities.
