Make your own travel arrangements and inform us of your travel details when you register. You should aim to arrive at Magdalene College on Sunday afternoon/evening (21st September).

Inexpensive flights are available to London Stansted Airport from many locations in Europe. This airport is the most convenient for Cambridge. London Luton Airport is the next closest. Heathrow and Gatwick are both more than 2 hours away and we do not recommend using these airports unless you have no other option. The website SkyScanner can help you find a cheap flight.

To get to Cambridge, you can take direct trains from London Liverpool Street, London King's Cross and Stansted Airport. For train timetables please see the National Rail website. The College is approximately 20 minutes walking distance from the rail station, or you can share a taxi.

Alternatively, you can take the National Express coach bus from any of the airports to the central bus station in Cambridge. The College is approximately 10 minutes walking distance from the bus station.

A coach will bring everyone from the College to the EBI and back again every day.

Meals

Breakfasts are provided by the College. Lunches will be provided in at the EBI on campus. On the evening of Wednsday 24th September dinner will be at the College.

Money

The currency in Great Britain is pounds sterling. One pound is generally worth about 1.6 euros. You can check the latest exchange rates at XE.com.

Almost everything here is more expensive than continental Europe, so plan accordingly. Something that costs €5 in Germany will probably cost £5 here. Bank machines will accept cards from most European banks; however, they don't give a very good exchange rate, and will often charge you for each transaction. The best local exchange rates are usually at the top floor exchange in Marks and Spencer on Market Square. You'll need your passport and another form of photo id if you want to use a credit or debit card at this exchange.
