PDB entry 2ei4

Trimeric complex of archaerhodopsin-2

The structure was published by Yoshimura, K. and Kouyama, T., in 2008 in a paper entitled "Structural role of bacterioruberin in the trimeric structure of archaerhodopsin-2" (abstract).

This crystal structure was determined using X-ray diffraction at a resolution of 2.1 Å and deposited in 2007.

The experimental data on which the structure is based was also deposited.

The PDB entry contains the structure of Archaerhodopsin-2. This molecule has the UniProt identifier P29563 (BACR2_HALS2)search. The sample contained 253 residues which is 98% of the natural sequence. Out of 253 residues 238 were observed and are deposited in the PDB.

It also contains one or more heterogenic compounds (e.g., ligands, co-factors, ions, modified amino acids, etc.); see here for a complete list.

The molecule most likely forms homotrimers.
