The structure was published by Safo, M.K., Moure, C.M., Burnett, J.C., Joshi, G.S., and Abraham, D.J., in 2001 in a paper entitled "High-resolution crystal structure of deoxy hemoglobin complexed with a potent allosteric effector." (abstract).
