The structure was published by Sugimoto, K., Senda, T., Aoshima, H., Masai, E., Fukuda, M., and Mitsui, Y., in 1999 in a paper entitled "Crystal structure of an aromatic ring opening dioxygenase LigAB, a protocatechuate 4,5-dioxygenase, under aerobic conditions." (abstract).

This crystal structure was determined using X-ray diffraction at a resolution of 2.2 Å and deposited in 1998.
